JHQ, Rheindahlen, Digital 3D-Model Update

I have been working on the creation of a 3D-Model of JHQ for over a year now and haven’t tired of the challenge, yet, big as it is!

I have now become very competent at using some very clever software, SketchUp, that is used by many Architects around the world.

It’s certainly keeping me busy during my retirement!

I have now completed ALL of the many buildings, Military/Residential/Public, that were present on JHQ when it was closed down in 2013. I have been helped and supported by Rudolf Bueschges, author of the book “Gebaeude des Joint Headquarters”, who has provided helpful information regarding the size and images of many of the buildings. It’s interesting how many of the few JHQ images that there are on the internet usually feature the front of the building but seldom the back or sides of the various buildings!

I am now working through a long list of buildings that still need some details added (windows, doors etc).

Once this has been completed I will be in the home stretch and will be adding fences, driveways, trees and people!
