JHQ 3D-Model Status Update
I have been working on the creation of a 3D-Model of JHQ for many months now and am enjoying the challenge, big as it is!
One of the more challenging aspects of creating such a model is learning how to use some very clever software, SketchUp, that is used by many Architects around the world.
It’s certainly keeping me busy during my retirement!
I am currently working my way through the many buildings, Military / Residential / Public, that were present on JHQ when it was closed down in 2013. I have been helped and supported by Rudolf Bueschges, author of the book “Gebaeude des Joint Headquarters”, who has provided helpful information regarding the size and images of many of the buildings. It’s interesting how many of the few JHQ images that there are on the internet usually feature the front of the building but seldom the back or sides of the various buildings!
I am putting the finished touches to the buildings in the Big House complex before moving on to the residential buildings in the north east, by the main entrance to JHQ.
Challenges to come will be the Main Naafi and Windsor School, which I am particularly looking forward to, as I attended the school (Queens School) between 1967-72.
